Some people believe greatness is innate rather than taught, and that may or may not be true. But that’s probably a conversation of a more theoretical topic for this blog post. Parents and teachers can do their best, however, to ensure that children are equipped as much as possible to achieve their highest potential. If that potential is being the greatest person that they can be, then we’ve done our job.

So, I guess the question isn’t whether people are born with greatness or if they are taught it, but rather how the very best part of a child is developed so that they can reach their full potential. Well, there’s no simple answer to that. At least not one that everyone can agree on. 

And, so, like with many aspects of adulting, we’re left hypothesizing – hoping sh*t doesn’t hit the fan, or that our children don’t grow up to hate us, or that we didn’t f- them up irreparably. 

In short, we do our best. Within reason. Using authentic efforts and hopefully some well-informed judgment.

Every parent wants their child to be great. But what does it really mean to be great? And how can we teach our kids to achieve greatness? Well, for starters, “greatness” is subjective. What one person feels as great another may feel as mediocre.

Some people might say that it means being successful in your chosen field. Others might say that it means making a difference in the world. Still, others might say that it simply means living a life that is true to yourself matter how you define greatness, there are certain qualities that all great people share. They are all ambitious, determined, and hardworking. They are also all passionate about their goals. And they are all willing to take risks.

If you want to teach your kids to be great, you need to help them develop these qualities. You can do this by setting a good example, providing them with opportunities to challenge themselves, and encouraging them to follow their dreams or by using books.
